Walking on Air
WWC-042 Walking on Air
Yet another departure from the main theme. The working title for this program was "Dr. Pepper’s Broken Hearts Club Band” but that seemed a bit long, so I went with “Walking on Air” instead. I think the tunes here capture both themes - the early psychedelic explorations of the Beatles along with the idea of drifting away in a sea of sound.
This BBC documentary on the making of Sgt. Pepper is what got me thinking along those lines. I was too young to notice at the time, but Sgt. Pepper and some of their other work circa 1967 set popular music off in a whole new direction, profoundly so I would say. Whether intentional or not, you can definitely hear the Beatles influence in some of these tunes.
To keep it slightly on topic I included one Russian duo, but the majority of the artists this time around are from the USA (California, Texas and Ohio) with artists from Germany, the UK and Australia also represented. As usual I scared up some photos as I like to see who I’m listening to.

Walking in the Air in a different genre, (quasi) symphonic metal. Not soft and dreamy but intense, dynamic, dramatic. This was Nightwish when Tarja, THE diva, was still w/ them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9icKP1b44TA
