Very nice harmonies as they stroll through the village. Nice touch in "Nu gikvars, kalo!" when the crowd of children fall in behind the girls and start singing. These videos always seem to have extras standing around, taking a break from the fields, as it were. Sort of a breath of fresh air from contemporary pop. urbando
https://lyricstranslate.com/ is usually pretty good. Or just paste the band name and song title + lyrics into a search engine. You'll usually find them in the original language which you can then run through Google Translate. Doesn't work for every language though. I haven't been able to find a Chechen translator, but Google Translate has a lot of strange languages, as well as the more common ones. They also have pronunciation for some, which is handy.
With folk songs, especially older ones, there's often references to things that only natives would understand, and even they might have difficulty. Neuromonk Feofan (my second program) is like that. He sings partly in Russian, partly in Church Slavonic or 'old Russian.' Even Russians have trouble with that!
Here's what I came up with for Trio Mandili - Kakhuri using Goggle Translate. I'm sure someone in Georgia knows what it means. The untranslated part is just their version of lalala, hey na-ni-no sort of stuff....lol
Play, my Chonguro! Play, I'll change you!
Girl, look at me here, where are your eyes running?
Haralale Dariv Daralale
Haralali haralale dariv daralale x2
I will cut a tree in the ravine for the material that I will go to the ravine!
Girl, why did you change in the village of Ghabua!
Haralale Dariv Daralale
Haralali haralale dariv daralale x2
Boy, what have you done to me Chira and Lkhinato?
Your nose turned out to be a shakrian bridge!
Haralale Dariv Daralale
Haralali haralale dariv daralale x2
Grow green Jejilo, grow old, become K'anao!
If your grandfather did it, why don't you accept it?
Haralale Dariv Daralale
Haralali haralale dariv daralale x2
I said I like these songs just the way they are, and that's true, but the last one, Nu gikvars, kalo! has such a beautiful melody, I'd just love to get these girls into a studio and do a full power version of the song.
Funny you should mention chess. I read up a bit on Ray Charles and it turns out he was also a chess player. This is from Wikipedia:
Charles enjoyed playing chess. As part of his therapy when he quit heroin, he met with psychiatrist Friedrich Hacker [de], who taught him how to play chess, three times a week.[102] He used a special board with raised squares and holes for the pieces. When questioned if people try to cheat against a blind man, he joked in reply, "You can't cheat in Chess... I'm gonna see that!"[105] In a 1991 concert, he referred to Willie Nelson as "my chess partner".[106] In 2002, he played and lost to the American grandmaster and former U.S. champion Larry Evans.[107]
I also play chess, and on one occasion played a Spanish champion informally. I lost, but I gave him a good run for it - the board was almost empty by the time he finally caught me! That was my ex-wife's uncle, a former Captain in the Republican army during the Spanish civil war. He learned to play chess in prison after the war and went on to be a national champion.
Delightful singers, charming extras (donkey and kids choir).
Feel I was too critical about the girl band you liked. SAG has a bad habit of being blunt. It's a fire trait. You must have deep water tendencies as a Scorpio. Sorry if I offended.
No Problem. If everyone liked the same music it would get boring really fast. What I find interesting is how my own tastes have changed over the years. I listen to music now that I never would have considered 20 or 30 years ago, and some of what I listened to back then is cringe-inducing today...lol.

Try this in your language! https://odysee.com/@HighlyCombustibleReacts:9/silent-night-sissel-reaction!:7
Poor donkey, did not want to be close to that screaming in falsetto... and a poor version of a guitar... I pity that donkey so much.
That's interesting music. Thanks. I wish I knew what they are singing about.

Thank you, very helpful.
I once had a chess coach from Georgia. She was beautiful and brilliant. There are a lot of women chess players in Georgia.
